YORK TOWNSHIP, MI – Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin. show a pedestrian was killed in a traffic crash every 88 minutes in 2017.
NHTSA statistics show that the majority of those deaths happened during darkness.
Additionally, more than half of bicycle-vehicle crashes occur during darkness, says bicyclist advocacy group People Powered Movement. And while there have been fewer bicycle-vehicle crashes, PPM says bicyclists are dying more often when such incidents do occur.
